What is the Armed Forces Covenant?

HCBID have pledged to treat those who have served in the armed forces, and their families fairly. The Covenant supports serving personnel, service leavers, veterans, and their families.

Get involved and sign the Armed Forces Covenant?

Organisations signing the Armed Forces Covenant will make a public pledge before being awarded the Covenant. Signatories pledge to uphold and act in accordance with the basic principles of the Covenant. Organisations commit to pledges detailing exactly how they will support and uphold the Covenant. Section 1: Principles of the Armed Forces Covenant

  • 1.1 We will endeavour in our business dealings to uphold the key principles of the Armed Forces Covenant
    • No member of the Armed Forces Community should face disadvantage in the provision of public and commercial services compared to any other citizen
    • In some circumstances special treatment may be appropriate, especially for the injured or bereaved.

Section 2: Demonstrating our Commitment

  • 2.1 We recognise the value that serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families bring to our business and to our country. We seek to uphold the principles, by
    • Promoting the Armed Forces: Promotion of the Armed Forces Covenant to all our members providing information on the benefits and how Levy Payers can sign up their businesses
    • Veterans: supporting the employment of veterans, recognising military skills and qualifications in our recruitment and selection process
    • Service Spouses & Partners: supporting the employment of service spouses and partners
    • Reserves: supporting our employees who are members of the Reserve Forces
    • Cadet Organisations: supporting our employees who are volunteer leaders in military cadet organisations
    • National Events: supporting Armed Forces Day, Reserves Day, Poppy Appeal Day and Remembrance activities
    • Armed Forces Charities: supporting Armed Forces charities with fundraising and supporting staff who volunteer to assist
  • 2.2 We publicise these commitments through our literature, and on our website.
